applinsandoranges:

Headcanon that Sebastian Sallow does not actually have a way with the faculty.

Is Sebastian charming? Undoubtedly.

Do the professors let him get away with things? Yes.

Is it because he manipulates or charms them? Absolutely not.

These professors have known Sebastian since he was eleven years old, and they watched him start school with his twin. They entered Hogwarts already orphaned and living with Solomon Sallow - an ex-Auror with (let’s be perfectly honest) a known temper and some serious issues. It’s not an ideal situation.

They watch him and Anne thrive despite their unfortunate circumstances, both strong and brilliant students who took after their parents. They’re a joy to have around because of their desire to learn and their innate talents, despite all the mischief.

Then Anne is taken down by Rookwood’s curse, and everything just goes to shit. Sebastian comes back to school, having lost focus in his desperation while they try to cure her. He’s not smiling and laughing anymore - he’s spiraling.

They know he’s not getting any kind of support at home, and he’d never ask for it either. So they let him just… do what he needs to do that first year.

Then fifth year comes along, and they have obviously heard the news that none of the healers can cure Anne- Nurse Blainey, herself, being one of the people they reached out to. Sebastian has likely voiced his concerns and frustrations to Blainey personally, as well as any of the professors who might have an idea (asking Sharp about Auror techniques and potions for curing curses, or perhaps Hecat saw something similar as an Unspeakable?)

He’s a bright boy - even Scribner stressed this fact, desperately trying to keep him out of trouble and blame it on another student instead, but knowing he needs to be reigned in if he continues.

But they still indulge him - turn a blind eye to his not-so-innocent questions about Dark Arts, let him skip class to hide away in the Library, and even try to get him out with new friends and away from all his brooding. Professor Weasley ensures Sebastian takes the new student out for a fun day at Hogsmeade rather than be punished for more blatant rulebreaking.

He absolutely is not pulling the strings here - the Hogwarts professors see a pitiable boy who’s trying his best despite everything going wrong, and they simply don’t want to pile anything more onto his shoulders.

I like to think they meet on Friday evenings at the Hogshead, and Sebastian comes up in conversation a lot.

“I caught Sallow with another stolen book from the Library. Almost made good on my threat of detention, but he was actually smiling today and I didn’t have the heart.”

He doesn’t have a way with the faculty. The faculty has simply rallied around to protect their baby boy.

confessions (s.s)

the gryffindoor common room was unusually full, students from each house piled inside talking and laughing filled the silence. garreth and leander had a bright idea of throwing a party; and they pretty well bribed the portrait of the fat lady on the door to allow them. it was well past curfew, students using dissolutiment charms and invisibility potions as they snuck around the castle. sebastian was honestly surprised they pulled it off as well as they did. he stood off to the side, leaning against a wall as he sipped his drink. on the contrary to popular belief, parties weren’t his thing. he’d much rather spend time tucked away in the library reading a book, or spending time with you and ominis. yet, here he was, thanks to you. you had practically begged him to come, saying you wouldn’t come if he wasn’t. so, much to his dismay, he agreed. after everything you’ve been through, you deserved some time to have fun, without having to worry about anything for once.

he wanted to leave, as he was practically sulking to himself, but he couldn’t leave you here by yourself. even though you were doing your own thing, he had to be there just in case you needed him.

‘do you know where y/n is?’ a voice caught his attention. leander stood in front of him, very clearly not sober.

‘no, why?’ he questioned, as he looked him up and down.

‘we’re going to play a game, and i wondered if she wanted to join.’ he relied, about to take his leave before sebastian pulled back on his shoulder.

‘what game?’ sebastian eyed him somewhat suspiciously. he never trusted leander, he had quite the reputation of making a move on any girl he could find despite if they were into him or not. and his is sudden interest in your whereabouts make his stomach turn.

so if you were playing, so was he, wether leander wanted him to or not.

‘never have i ever. i guess it’s a quite a popular game in the muggle world. you’re welcome to join.’ he slurred, reluctantly extending the invitation, clearly hoping he would turn it down. sebastian agreed, as he began scanning the common room once again, hoping to spot you before someone else pulled you away. he paused when he heard your laugh, looking in the direction he heard it from until he finally spotted you. you were sat off against a wall, natty and poppy with you, as leander approached. he watched as you giggled as he talked, lightly smacking his arm at something he said. sebastian’s gaze hardened slightly as he watched you walk away with him.

he followed, quickening his pace to catch up. leander lead you to a quieter part of the common room, where a few others sat on the floor near a fireplace. garreth, everett, and imelda greeted the four of them as they took their places around them. finally sebastian entered, greeting them as he took the last free space beside you. you looked over, noticing the presence beside you. you were clearly drunk, giggling at anything and everything, oblivious to what was happening around you, and a lot more talkative and less composed then you normally were. it was truly a sight to see, and sebastian loved every minute of it.

‘sebastian! hi! i feel like i haven’t seen you for hourssss.’ you laughed, a slight pout on your face.

‘you kept disappearing on me.’ he pointed out, gently pushing you back up when you started to fall over his way. before you could protest, garreth chimed in.

‘so the rules are simple.’ he began, signaling for everyone to listen. ‘for example, someone will say never have i ever cheated on a exam, and if you have you take a drink. if you haven’t, you don’t do anything.’

‘oh! i’ll go first. never have i ever stolen something.’ poppy said, looking at everyone around her.

sebastian, garreth and you all raised you glasses and took a drink. poppy gasped jokingly as she look between the three of you.

‘to be fair, garreth asked me to steal for him, i think he should drink twice.’ you appealed, hoping they would agree with you. they didn’t, saying you still did the act. you huffed, slumping down slightly, tapping on the side of your drink. your eyes wandered over to sebastian while he mumbled something to everett. he looked good, even more than he normally did. you were avoiding him on purpose earlier. the more you drank, the more you believed you would do something stupid. but, at this point, you were well past any rational thinking. all that was in your mind was him. everyone took a turn, asking questions hoping to expose secrets from someone else.

‘never have i ever had a crush on my best friend.’ imelda smirked, looking directly at you, gaining you attention back. she knew of your crush on sebastian for quite some time now, and decided to do something about it. she was tired of watching you two pine over each other like children, and she knew you were terribly honest while you were drinking.

your drink was already to your mouth seconds after the words left her mouth. everyone turned to you, being as you were the only one who drank.

sebastian’s head swiftly turned to you, his eyes trained on you while you set down your drink.

‘is that so?’ he doubted, not completely believing you. but, a smile was still forming on his face. you turned to him, giggling again while you nodded eagerly.

‘how could i not? look at y-you.’ you hiccuped, patting you hand on his hair. his curls were messy, falling all over the place.

‘get a room,’ garreth teased, looking between the two of you. ‘we do not need to see this.’

you frowned, attempting to stand while you stumbled. sebastian quickly stood, grabbing you arm to steady you.

‘i think it’s time for you to get to bed. i’ll take you.’ he insisted. the party was dying down anyways, it was late, and you’ve had way too much to drink considering what you had just confessed. you protested, trying to sit back down but he held you firmly up. eventually you gave up, a wave of tiredness hitting you as you stood. you sleepily bid you goodbyes, beginning to walk towards the door of the common room. natty gave him a look as he waved to the group, which she clearly meant as ‘don’t do anything stupid.’ he caught up to you again, pulling your arm back just before you swung the door open.

‘remember we can’t be seen, unless you want a detention on that squeaky clean record of yours.’ he said sternly, pulling out his wand and casting the disillusionment charm over himself.

‘thanks to you. you’ve covered for me everytime we’ve been c-caught’ you hiccuped again, pulling out your wand. you attempted to cast the spell on yourself, failing miserably. his eyebrows raised in amusement as he watched you, stifling a laugh. ‘this isn’t funny!’

‘of course not, i’m not laughing.’ he cleared his throat, pulling his wand out again to cast it on you. you thanked him, opening the door, and stumbling out in front of him. the castle was almost eerily quiet at night, candles dimly lighting the empty halls. he matched your pace beside you, while you lazily walked. you hand brushed against his, causing his face to heat up. he thanked merlin you couldn’t see him right now. you slid your hand into his to stable yourself, leaning into him.

‘i feel like i’m going to collapse i’m so tired. maybe i’ll just sleep on the floor. ominis does it all the time. he’s like a cat.’

‘ominis could sleep anywhere. you on the other hand, i’m getting you back to your common room to your comfy bed. natty will murder me if i don’t.’ he chuckled.

・❥・

you stopped outside your common room, sebastian removing the charm from both of you so you could clearly see each other again.

‘see that wasn’t so bad.’ he gestured to your common room. ‘now go to bed.‘

you turned to face him, fully realizing how close you were standing to him. his face was mere inches from yours, and you could feel his warm breath tickle against your skin. your breathing quickened as you looked into his eyes. he looked at you like you were the only thing that mattered to him in this moment.

‘kiss me.’ you blurted, unable to stop yourself before the words left your mouth.

‘what?’ he choked, caught of guard.

‘do you not like me? you didn’t say anything earlier,’ you frowned, stepping back as your eyelids felt droopy. ‘i thought i made it soooo obvious. you’re so sweet, i love all the time we spend together and the way you l-.’

‘of course i like you, i have for ages,’ he cut you off before you could ramble any longer. ‘but you’re drunk, and you need your rest. we can talk about it tomorrow, if you remember.’ he winked, placing a gentle kiss on your hand.

you nodded, heading turning to your common room bidding him goodnight.

the comfortable silence filled the room around you, while you sat with ominis in a hidden corner in the library. he had asked you here on a ‘study date’. he had one more essay to finish, and he asked if you’d accompany him to the library. you had brought an old potions book with you to kill time, while he worked away. it was old and dusty, making you sneeze occasionally, which didn’t go unnoticed by madam scribner, the spine of the book was cracked with the pages almost falling out. you carefully hid it out of her view as she occasionally walked the library as if she’s expecting you to do something wrong.

you didn’t blame her though, it was an potions book sebastian had found in the restricted section, but before he could make his escape he was caught by peeves, resulting in yet another detention for him. he lended it to you for the time being while he served his time.

ominis’ foot tapped rapidly on the floor, eyebrows knitted in determination as he worked thorough his history of magic homework. you had already finished yours as you had the class together. but, he refused any help you offered to him.

a small smile grew on his face as he ended, leaning back in his chair with triumph. you took your attention away from reading as you noticed ominis shifting beside you.

‘finally done?’ you asked, watching him as he closed his eyes, looking as if he was about to fall asleep any minute.

‘yes. i don’t know how you finished yours so fast. even the thought of it makes me drowsy.’ he laughed, opening his eyes again, as he looked in your direction. ‘how’s the book sebastian ‘borrowed’?’

you laughed at his change of tone. ‘there’s some potions in here i’ve never even heard of. veritaserum - a truth potion.’

he nodded as you listed of some of the ingredients and the brewing process aloud from the book. you stopped yourself mid sentence as you looked up from your book at him. there were strands falling out of place from his usual slicked back hair from him running his hands through it, his smile that you adored was still resting on his lips while you spoke.

’is something wrong, my love?’ he questioned, a look of sudden confusion took over his features, over why you cut yourself off. the mere mention of the nickname he called you melted your heart.

‘I love your smile.’ you admired, ignoring his question. he looked unbelievably good today, not that he didn’t every day, but you wanted to let him know. you placed your book down on the table in front of you. you spun in your seat to face him.

‘i-what?’ he stuttered, caught off guard from the sudden compliments. he looked down, trying to hide the flush of read that was rapidly spreading over his usual pale skin.

‘and you eyes,’ you continued. you reached out, gently placing your hand on his cheek. ‘and your beauty marks.’

you softly traced along his face, connecting the dots making an imaginary shape. the feeling of butterflies was rapidly building in his stomach as you spoke. ominis was not one to do well with compliments. he was usually a confident person, never one to dwell much on looks. but, he did always have a lingering sense of insecurity that surrounded him. his family never let him forget about what a disgrace his disability made him, on top of him disagreeing with their ways. he couldn’t see himself, so he truly didn’t know how he looked. he had a general idea, his hair colour, eye colour, how tall he is, etc. and, when he did confide in sebastian about his insecurity, he never failed to tell him ‘ominis you’re a handsome guy, you don’t have to anything to worry about’.

yet, he never fully believed that until he met you.

‘i love you.’ you practically whispered as you finished your ramble. his head immediately snapped back up, looking in your direction. you waited patiently, as you both sat in silence. the silence now felt crushing as it felt like his cloudy eyes were staring directly into you. you two had been together for quite some time now, and you’ve been trying to build up the courage for the past few months to finally say it. ‘don’t feel any pressure to say anything back. i just wanted to tell you how i feel.’

it instantly apologized, reaching out and feeling along your leg to your find hand that rested in your lap.

‘i just needed a moment to take in what you were saying. i love you. more than anything.’

nightmares (o.g)

warnings: none, just a lil fluff.

did not proof read this, so if there are any mistakes feel free to point them out.

-

you often had nightmares. they had been happening since you were quite young, and not something you could control. it greatly affected your sleep, wanting to stay up as long as you could to avoid it, which then lead to affecting your studies. when you were younger, your mother would often wordlessly slip into your bed comforting you while you slept. it helped them stop, having the presence of another person enough to calm your mind.

you sat in the common room, the crackle of the fireplace warming the usual cold common room. you set down your book, unable to focus as your eyelids continued to flutter closed. it was well past midnight, and the last few nights you’ve had a terrible string of nightmares. It’s always the same, loyalists and poachers torturing and killing the people you care about - mostly ominis and sebastian. they had been your best friends ever since you had started at hogwarts in your fifth year, and if anything had happened to them just because they were close to you, you wouldn’t be able to live with yourself. you have never told them about your nightmares, thinking it was quite silly about how much sleep you lost over them. but, you would rather be awake than seeing it repeatedly in your mind.

the light sound of footsteps descending the stairs brought you out of your thoughts, looking over in the direction of the boy’s dormitory. there stood ominis, his usual slicked back blond hair messily falling into his face. your heart fluttered slightly in your chest at the sight.

‘ominis?’ you questioned, causing him to jump slightly. ‘what’re you doing up?’

‘i could ask you the same thing,’ he replied, walking over to where you sat on the couch. you gently grabbed his arm, pulling him down beside you. ‘i couldn’t sleep. sebastian snores unbelievably loud. what are you doing down here?’

‘i’m not surprised,’ you laughed, resting your head on his shoulder, causing his usual pale skin to turn a light shade of pink. but you didn’t notice. ‘it’s quite stupid. i have had nightmares often since i was a child. they’re always different, but for the last little while they’ve been about you and sebastian getting hurt. i cant stand it. so i’d just rather be awake. when i was young my mother to sleep with me to help.’

ominis’ usual unreadable expression softened as you spoke. it was something he related to all to well. every so often the memories of his childhood would taint his dreams, of his family torturing innocent people, making him torture an innocent person. it almost drove him mad having to relive it.

‘you could always sleep with me.’ he said quietly, twiddling his hands together. he wouldn’t admit it to you, but the comfort of another person would help him too. ‘only if you’re comfortable with it. i could sneak you in and out before anyone notices. i awake earlier than sebastian.’

you looked at him with wide eyes, unsure if you heard him clearly. he sat patiently, waiting for you to answer as you mind swarmed with thoughts.

‘that would be nice. thank you.’

he stood up, and began towards his dorm, with you following closely behind. being as quiet as you could possibly be, not wanting to wake anyone, you entered the room closing the door slowly behind you. the sound of mumbling caused you to freeze, while ominis continued towards his bed.

‘he also talks in his sleep.’ he whispered, gesturing in the general direction of sebastian. you laughed quietly, your body relaxing as you passed by his bed hearing something of spiders. you both layed in the small bed, not daring to touch one another. you didn’t want to overstep, as he was a nice enough friend to offer this much to you. his presence was simply enough.

even though you both wished for more.

-

you had been sneaking into ominis’ dorm for the past week now. about an hour after everyone had gone off to sleep, you find yourself back in his bed. your nightmares had stopped, and you were finally able to get well deserved rest. he was more than happy to have you, when you had told him they had stopped. and just like he promised, he snuck you out every morning before anyone noticed. you kept your distance every night, attempting to sleep on the single bed meant for one person while also getting your distance.

you and ominis had stayed up quite late, finishing your homework you were assigned and by the end you were both exhausted. you didn’t want to have to work on it over the duration of the weekend that started tomorrow. it was hogsmeade weekend, and you, ominis, and sebastian had planned to take a trip together.

you rubbed your eyes, stifling a yawn. your breath hitched in your throat as you realized the position you were in. your head was resting on his chest, while one of his arms was wrapped tightly around you. when you tried to move, he only gripped you tighter.

‘well, well, well, what do we have here?’ you froze at the sudden voice coming from the other side of the room. ominis stirred at the noise, his eyes slowing opening from the noise. realizing he was holding you, he quickly removed his arm.

‘i- i’m sorry, i didn’t mean to invade your space.’ he spoke quickly, sitting up. you frowned slightly, but sat up as well, glaring at sebastian as he started at you two.

‘you two are just adorable.’ sebastian stated, shooting you one of his usual smirks. ominis huffed, hearing his friends voice. he couldn’t hide the growing blush on his face though.

‘i guess we slept in a little too late than usual,’ you changed the subject, getting up and throwing your robe on over your pajamas.

‘than usual? how long have you been doing this?’ sebastian asked, looking completely dumbstruck.

‘the past week. i’ve been having trouble sleeping.’ you answered simply, walking towards the door. ‘get ready. i’ll meet you two in the common room and we can go.’

-

sebastian had run off to tomes and scrolls to buy a new book for anne while you and ominis continued to the three broomsticks. he insisted that you two carry on while he shopped and he’d meet you later. you walked side by side, soaking in the sunny weather. ominis had his wand tucked away, solely trusting you without a word to lead him. it warmed you heart that he placed so much trust in you, considering you haven’t known him as long as sebastian. you entered the three broomsticks, sirona greeting you warmly as you led ominis over to a table in the corner. it was quite busy, conversation buzzing all around. sirona immediately brought over two butterbeers, you thanked her before she walked away attending to her other customers. you sat in comfortable silence for a while, taking in the atmosphere around you. it was a homey place, friends and family laughing and chatting over drinks.

‘can i ask you something?’ he asked, bringing you out of you thoughts. he seemed unusually nervous, his normal demeanor unreadable and composed.

‘anything.’

‘i value our friendship,’ he began, talking a deep breath. you reached out, placing a comforting hand on his. ‘i understand if it’s not reciprocated, and i hope we can still be friends. i like you, more than a friend.’

‘ever the gentleman ominis gaunt,’ you smiled, moving your hand down to his. ‘i like you too.’

you couldn’t stand sebastian sallow sometimes. he was confident, charming, smug, and you wanted to punch that constant smirk he wore on his face clean off. but, despite your attitude toward him, he took quite a liking to you. he constantly flirted with you, invited you out on secret rendezvous to the restricted section in the library, duels in crossed wands, tried to partner with you in any class you had together. frankly, it was almost annoying how much he tried to spend time with you, despite you denying him of most of it. but, since you were such a good sport, you went along sometimes. it’s not like you hated the boy, in fact it was quite the opposite. but, you didn’t want to get your feelings hurt, so you simply distanced yourself from him.

on the contrary, you were very good friends with ominis, which is what got you dragged into spending time with sebastian in the first place. you and ominis became friends quite quickly, bonded over the fact that you both came from power-hungry, status-crazy, pureblood family’s. you both didn’t agree with the traditional ways of your families, so you bonded. and since sebastian was practically joined at the hip with ominis most days, he would plead for you to give him a chance, saying sebastian would complain non-stop when you wouldn’t agree to do things with him.

you hummed to yourself as you walked to you next class. potions was one, if not your favourite, class. walking in the door, you realized you were one of the first students there. luckily, you got to choose who to sit with, so you looked around the room, quickly spotting onimis already seated. you walked over to him, gently putting your hand on his arm and greeting him. he greeted you in return, as you took your seat, getting yourself situated. you noticed the lesson seemed to be different today, as sharp stood at the front of the room, placing different ingredients on the table, getting ready to brew a potion. you looked back to ominis, the chatter of students filling the room as the rest of the students entered the classroom.

‘do you know what we’re learning about today?’ you asked, watching sharp intently.

‘not a clue. but, I heard we’re not brewing anything today.’ he replied.

‘garreth won’t be too pleased with that.’ you joked, which he hummed in agreement.

you continued to watch sharp, until you heard the familiar voice of sebastian entering the room. he walked side by side with imelda, clearly arguing about something. once he spotted you, his attention to his previous conversation was now gone. he gave you one of his usual charming smiles, taking the seat at a table across the room, as you table was already full. imelda followed suit and sat beside him. sharp turned around to address the now bustling classroom, low chatter from each table filling the silence. he loudly cleared his throat, grabbing the students attention.

‘today we will be learning about a highly dangerous potion, so I will be brewing, while you observe,’ he began, striding around the room, eyeing each of you in turn. ‘the amortentia love potion.’

there were a few snickers around the room, hearing the words ‘love potions’ and ‘dangerous’ in the same sentence. you’ve heard about this potion before. it smells uniquely to each person, depending on what attracts them the most, even if the person did not acknowledge or was unaware of their fondness for the object. you too were unsure about how a simple love potion could be dangerous, but was eager to watch the process nonetheless.

‘this the most powerful love potion in the world. It is distinctive for its mother-of-pearl sheen while brewing,’ he continued, walking back up to his cauldron, dropping in the correct amount of pearl dust into the cauldron. ‘If someone were to drink this potion, they would become infatuated or obsessed with the person who gave it to them, as no potion can truly make someone feel love. it will smell differently to each person, as to what attracts them or what they desire most.’

you contented to observe him, carefully watching the steps. you looked in amazement as the potion started to change colour, the mother-of-pearl seen escaping the cauldron that was previously mentioned. the scent in the room started to shift as he continued. you could smell faintly of a cologne and - some sort of candy? your brows furrowed as you tried to figure out where you’ve smelled this and what the particular scent was. it was something you’ve smelled many times before, but you couldn’t quite put your finger on it. ‘is the room starting to smell different to you too?’ you whispered to ominis before shaking your head, dismissing the thoughts from your mind as your gaze fell back on your professor finishing the remaining steps of the potion.

ominis turned his head toward you as he whispered a simple ‘yes’ back. before you could reply, sharp looked in your direction, at the sound of voices behind him.

‘ms (Y/l/n), mr gaunt, perhaps you would like to tell the class what unique scent you each smell, since you seem to have more interesting things to be disscussing.’

‘of course professor,’ your cheeks instantly flushed, the heat in your face ever so present. reluctantly, you stood from your seat, and stepped up to the cauldron. whispers began circulating the room as you took sharps place at the cauldron. you weren’t entirely sure what was about to be revealed, but you figured it was going to something uncomfortable for you to admit. the scent only grew stronger, the closer you stood to it. it began to consume every part of your senses, almost able to taste it on your tongue.

‘I smell ceaderwood - a cologne I believe,’ you began, inhaling again before continuing. ‘and peppermint toad’s from honey dukes.’

sharp dismissed you, a satisfied look on his face at your clear embarrassment from the task. you took a seat back at your station, as ominis made his way up to the cauldron. realization hit you like a ton of bricks, your thoughts swarmed your head trying to pinpoint the culprit. it was sebastian. you huffed to yourself; you hated the stupid comments he always made under his breath, his over confidence of sneaking into the restricted section of the library - or really any restricted part of the school which often ended in detention, his stupid cologne that seemed like he took a bath in it every morning for how strong it was, his addiction to those peppermint toad’s he carried around everywhere which him. his chocolate brown curls that messily fell in his face, the freckles the covered his face so perfectly. fuck.

you liked him. deep, deep down, you always had the thought in the back of your mind of something more. but, you convinced yourself it was an impossible thought, so as quickly as it came to your mind, you would push it away just as fast. you distanced yourself, never truly opening up to him, and frankly being kind of rude, so you didn’t end up with a broken heart.

you snapped back out of your thoughts as ominis sat back down beside you. sharp signaled the end of class, and ominis bid you a goodbye as you had different classes next. before you could make your escape, sebastian was standing in front of you, the widest grin on his face that you’ve ever seen.

‘it seems like someone has a cru-,’

‘say one more word sallow, and i will take you out.’ you grumbled, glaring at him. picking up your things and carefully placing them in your in your arms, you stood up beside him. he stood quite a bit taller than you, the top of your head resting right at his shoulders.

he looked down at you with a certain gleam in his eye, that you’ve never seen before. “are you asking me on a date?”

‘no, i said i would take you out. as in beat your ass in a duel.’

‘no need to be so hostile,’

you rolled you eyes, hastily walking towards the exit, trying to end this conversation as soon as possible. you simply didn’t need to hear him gloat about his awareness of your newfound crush on him.

but, he very obviously, has been waiting for this day since they first day you met. he followed closely behind looking like a lost puppy looking for its owner.

‘i’d would love for you to accompany me on a date,

if you would be so kind to indulge me.’ you stopped in your tracks, hearing the words leave his mouth. at this point you were standing a few steps outside of the classroom. ‘you’ve acted like you didn’t like me. why?’

you pulled him to a secluded corner around, thankful there were no students around. you weren’t expecting to have this conversation right now, or frankly at all.

‘i - i didn’t want to get my feelings hurt. i didn’t want to like you,’ his expression fell as each new word left your mouth. ‘i didn’t want to get my hopes up for something more, only to be left alone at the end.’

‘you can be so daft, you know that?’ he questioned, taking a step closer to you. you didn’t realize how close you were standing, until you could feel his breath in your face. you shifted uncomfortably under his gaze. ‘i’ve always liked you. only you. i tried so hard to get you to see that, but you pushed me away.’

you looked back up, seeing him staring down at you, an adoring look in his eyes. something he only reserved for you. but, you didn’t know that. before you could process what what happening he was leaning down, and his lips were on yours. it felt like time stopped, your eyes wide like a dear who has just been spotted by a hunter. you didn’t know what to do. every alarm bell was going off in your head, telling you to pull away. you were in public, and would most defiantly get in trouble. but instead, you relaxed into it, deepening it. your eyes fluttering closed. running your fingers through his hair, you felt his hand gently placed against you waist, one on your cheek. it felt like ages before he eventually pulled away. your heart felt like it was going to beat right out of your chest.

‘do you know how long i’ve been wanting to do that?’ he sighed, grabbing your things from your hands. he began heading in the direction of your next class, signaling for you to follow. ‘how about that date?’
